Time lines help us keep historical events in perspective. They also help track events of individuals or entire social movements. The basic principles that support the North American Model of Wildlife Conservation took root in American courts just over 160 years ago. Sixteen years after one of the earliest such court decisions, Theodore Roosevelt was born. More than any other person, this one man was responsible for making conservation begin to happen in America.
This time line traces his accomplishments. We are now living 100 years 'down range' from TR and the 'aim' he and his associates took on conservation. Today's wildlife abundance is testimonial that their aim was indeed true. Click here to view a .pdf of the Theodore Roosevelt Time Line
